When an acoustical consultant is left out of building design and construction, sometimes the building is built to substandard construction. Before certification can be given we may have to come in and carry out investigative acoustic testing and determine the most practical way to bring the building up to code. Its always best to integrate acoustical design into the building design in order to reduce the risk of things going wrong, ensure regular meetings, regular site inspections and regular milestone field tests are carried out. The level of risk in a building project increases with its size and hence to reduce risk there should be a corresponding higher level of engagement of an experienced acoustical engineer.
